Actor Prince David Osei, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a native of Ghana, recently expressed his worries on Twitter over the likelihood of former President John Dramani Mahama winning back office.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer Mahama, the actor says, would not win the presidency, even with possible endorsements from well-known pastors in the nation.
In his remarks, Osei also addressed the “propaganda” and charges leveled against the ruling NPP, emphasizing that the illegal mining known as Galamsey, which is currently a major problem in Ghana, is not limited to any one political party.
He clarified that powerful people and members of the NPP and NDC are also involved in this illegal activity. Ghana has long struggled with this complicated issue, and research indicates that the reason the campaign against illegal mining hasn’t been successful is because the subject is politically charged.
The continuance of illicit mining has been facilitated by the involvement of powerful individuals, including as chiefs, politicians, and business elites, making it difficult to police laws and regulations.
He wrote, “Let me share a brief perspective. Even if all the pastors were to pray and anoint Ex-President Mahama, he would not regain the presidency. The ongoing propaganda tactics against the NPP, including accusations of involvement in illegal mining, will not succeed. The issue of illegal mining involves individuals from both NDC and NPP, politicians, pastors, and the public. Some of us are not mere observers; our prayers are impactful,”
Political parties are squabbling over blame as illegal mining has become a major issue in Ghana’s impending elections. Despite President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s promises to handle the matter, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is under fire for not being more aggressive.
David Osei, on the other hand, contends that illicit mining is a multifaceted national issue that cuts beyond political boundaries and involves a range of stakeholders.
