The Appointments Committee of Parliament is expected to suggest that Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Health Minister-designate Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and eleven more nominees who underwent vetting on Friday, January 31 be approved.
After the vetting process, a consensus was established on the choice.
In the end, the committee decided that all twelve ministers-designate were qualified for their positions, notwithstanding previous conflicts that resulted in a minority walkout.
Salisu Be-Awuribe Issifu, Minister-designate for the Savannah Region; Wilbert Petty Brentum, Minister-designate for the Western North Region; and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, are among the nominees slated for approval in addition to Okudzeto Ablakwa and Mintah Akandoh. The others are Francis Owusu Antwi, Minister-designate for the Bono East Region, Joseph Nelson, Minister-designate for the Western Region, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, and Puozuing Charles Lwanga, Minister-designate for the Upper West Region.
The Appointments Committee’s recommendation sets the stage for the plenary session of Parliament to make a final judgment, and a formal vote will decide if the nominees are confirmed.
It is anticipated that their adoption by the House will just be a formality given the committee’s consensus.
