A nurse who works at Kumasi South Hospital in Gyinyase, Asokwa Municipality, Ashanti Region, and her three children perished in a terrible fire.

The nurse, Linda Agyemang, and her family were stranded in their three-bedroom house when the fire started early on Saturday morning.

The residents’ attempts to rescue were thwarted by the flames’ strength.

After battling to enter the residence, firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) managed to rescue three other residents.

However, after they were able to put out the fire, they discovered the four victims in the toilet, completely burned.

DO II Peter Addai, the Ghana Fire Service’s Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence in a statement to the media.

“At 44: 08 – 44: 32At 4:36 AM on 8 February 2025, we received a distress call reporting a fire at Gyinyase near Tubi hotel. We quickly dispatched our fire tenders to attend to the fire.”

“When we got there, the fire was wild alright, so we called for a second attendant to help. We lost four people in that fire, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he stated.

The Kumasi South Hospital is now treating the three rescued individuals.

While the police investigate the source of the fire, the burned bodies have also been placed at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for preservation.
