A farmer, 38, was shot after allegedly refusing to sell his farm for alleged illegal mining activities, or “galamsey.”

Kwadwo Kintoh, the farmer, was shot on his farm in the Western North Region’s Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, specifically in Sefwi Nambro.

Sources claim that the illegal miner offered a cheap compensation package, which made the farmer reject selling his land.

Sadly, the victim attempted to stop the illegal miner, whose name was not immediately known, from using an excavator to build a passage through the victim’s land to the Galamsey site.

The suspect and the farmer got into a heated altercation as a result.

The defendant, who was carrying a pistol at the time of the altercation, took it out and fired a warning shot, but the bullet unintentionally struck the farmer’s armpit.

The culprit fled, believing he had murdered the farmer.

Later, the farmer was able to inform the Bibiani Police about the situation, and they have started an inquiry to find the offender.

The victim is still receiving treatment at Bibiani Municipal Hospital after being admitted.
