When Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister of the Interior, visited the Ghana National Fire Service’s regional headquarters in Tamale, he underlined that retooling the fire service is a top priority for the government in order to improve the working conditions and operational capacity of the service and make sure it is properly equipped to serve the country.

While there, the minister denounced the recent assaults on firefighters. He disclosed ongoing negotiations with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure officers’ safety while on duty by providing escorts.

Additionally, he said that negotiations are in progress with the National Insurance Commission to obtain insurance coverage for firefighters, providing them with increased security and comfort.

Hon. Muntaka further advised citizens to refrain from buying and selling properties owned by security agencies.

He emphasised that in order to guarantee that security service lands are utilised for their intended purposes, people and organisations must respect their ownership and borders.

ACFO II Franklin Masiku, the Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, listed a number of issues the area is confronting, such as office space shortages, resource limitations, and logistical hurdles.

He praised the minister for his dedication and his strong interest in attending to the fire service’s demands so that they can fulfill their duty of protecting people and property throughout the nation.
