In Changsha, Hunan Province, China, from June 11–13, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), is attending the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-Up Action on the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) is preceded by the event.
In a speech read on his behalf by Foreign Minister H.E. Wang Yi during the opening ceremony, President of the People’s Republic of China H.E. Xi Jinping welcomed the representatives of fifty-three (53) African nations, conveyed his happiness and gratitude to the leaders for gathering to discuss the next steps on the issues discussed at the previous FOCAC meeting, and wished them a productive discussion.

H.E. Wang Yi, for his part, emphasized the necessity for China and Africa to keep enhancing their cooperation in the fields of finance, security, and the rule of law. He also emphasized the need for the Global South to cooperate more in order to improve the lives of its citizens.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of fostering people-to-people interactions, ensuring openness in trade between China and Africa, supporting talent development and technical capacity building, enhancing agricultural and agribusiness partnerships, and promoting inclusive multilateral trade while joining the global fight against injustice.
In line with the government’s vision of a prosperous Ghana, Ghana’s participation in the conference reaffirms its commitment to working with its partners worldwide to strengthen its bilateral and multilateral relations, cooperation towards sustainable development, youth empowerment, strategic trade, and investments.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs led Ghana’s delegation, which also included the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare (MP); the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini (MP); the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. John Setor Dumelo (MP); Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije (MP), the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, and other Committee members and Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.
