The Mid-Year Supplementary Budget was presented to Parliament by Minister of Finance Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, and all newly trained teachers were given assurances by Education Minister Hon. Haruna Iddrisu that their salaries would be paid.

In order to pay the salaries of all recently educated instructors, he pointed out that the procedure of issuing their Staff Identification Cards had already started.

On the floor of Parliament, Hon. Samuel Atta-Mills, the Member of Parliament for Komenda/Edina/Eguafo/Abrem, brought up the matter, and the Minister of Education provided this assurance.

In addition, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu made a suggestion that roughly 50,000 instructors and 10,000 non-teaching personnel would be hired this year, emphasizing that the 2025 budget already accounts for this.

As you may remember, on Monday, June 23, 2025, a group of recently graduated teachers from the 2022 class of the College of Education protested at the Ghana Education Service (GES) headquarters in Accra over months of unpaid pay and delayed staff identification numbers.

When asked when the STEM school in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency and the stalled GETFund projects will be finished, the Minister replied that the GETFund’s consultant on instruction had recently given cost estimates for the remaining work.

According to him, this will facilitate the distribution of cash to guarantee the project’s completion. The Ministry also expressed optimism that the project will be finished by the end of the year once funding becomes available.
