Four Deputy Ministerial nominees nominated by President John Dramani Mahama have been accepted by Parliament after the House Appointments Committee unanimously recommended them.

The approved nominees include Mohammed Adams Sukparu, MP for Sissala West, as Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations; James Gyakye Quayson, MP for Assin North, as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs; Dorcas Affo-Toffey, MP for Jomoro, as Deputy Minister for Transport; and Prof. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan, who was appointed Deputy Minister for Health.

The four pending applicants underwent the final round of screening and approval when the Appointments Committee’s report was approved during the July 29 Parliamentary session.

The Committee’s Chairman, Bernard Ahiafor, presented the report to the House, stating that the Committee had convened a public hearing on Friday, July 25, 2025, reviewed all pertinent papers, and solicited public opinion. Nominees answered questions regarding their credentials, work histories, and policy views for their individual portfolios throughout the hearing.

“Following thorough scrutiny, the Committee found all nominees competent and suitable. It therefore recommends by consensus that the House approve the nomination of all four individuals for appointment as Deputy Ministers,” Ahiafor said.

On July 17, 2025, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin forwarded the nominees to the Appointments Committee.

President Mahama submitted the names in compliance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Ghanaian Constitution.
