Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, has formally launched the 11th Biennial Commonwealth Hansard Editors Association – Africa Region (CHEA-AR) Conference in Accra, 2025.
The Speaker called on Hansard editors throughout the continent to make sure that their legislative reports not only represent impartiality and accuracy but also accurately capture the African story in his keynote address.
The Speaker, speaking under the theme “Charting the Future of Hansard: Embracing Technology and Innovation for Enhanced Parliamentary Reporting,” called on Hansard editors to use technology to their advantage while maintaining the continent’s distinct parliamentary identity and voice. The Speaker also underlined the crucial role that editors play in influencing the public’s perception of parliamentary democracy.
