A man reportedly died after jumping from Accra’s Achimota overhead bridge, frightening nearby drivers and pedestrians.
According to witnesses, the incident happened, and as onlookers hurried to the site, traffic slowed.
A few minutes before the tragedy, the man was reportedly rushing along the bridge in haste.
The victim, who was wearing a white long-sleeve shirt and denim pants, was discovered lying still on the pavement underneath the overpass.
Without pausing to talk to anyone, he climbed over the railing of the Achimota overhead bridge and then jumped onto the road below.
The victim jumped from the Achimota overhead bridge, and while some onlookers tried to help, he was not responding.
As one witness put it, “He was merely sprinting.” Really, nobody knew what was happening. One eyewitness reported, “He jumped before we even considered reacting.” “Too quickly to stop him.”
Although the exact reason behind his behavior is still unknown, authorities said they have opened an inquiry to ascertain what led up to the occurrence.
For preservation and autopsy, the body has been transported to a mortuary.
The public is also being urged by authorities to provide any information that can help identify the deceased and get in touch with his family.
