The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) arrested dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, better known by his stage name Shatta Wale, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in connection with their investigations into his Lamborghini and other tax compliance matters.
Later, he was given bail with stringent requirements, such as posting a bond of GH₵10 million with two sureties. According to EOCO officials, his release won’t be finalized until all legal criteria have been satisfied.
On Thursday, August 21, a large group of fans invaded EOCO’s offices, calling for the release of Shatta Wale.
The demonstration brought attention to the case and the artist’s devoted fan base, who is known as the “Dancehall King.”
