The Ministry of Defence has established an inquiry board to look into the tragic crash of a Z-9 helicopter.
The board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator and includes members of the Ghana Air Force and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority’s Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIB).
A team of US Air Force investigators will also provide technical expertise and help to the project.
According to the Ministry, the Board may, if necessary, call additional experts and organizations, both local and foreign, to assist with the probe.
A preliminary investigative team was formed on August 6, 2025, the day of the disaster, to collect evidence from the scene.
That team is required to present a report to the newly formed Board by August 25th, 2025.
The Investigation Board has been granted 30 days to finish its job and present its conclusions.
In a statement issued by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Acting Minister of Defence, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a comprehensive, transparent, and credible inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
