The father of 23-year-old Central University law student Ivan Baidoo has called for a transparent and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his son’s death.
Evans Baidoo is demanding that the Ghana Police Service publicly disclose the findings of its investigation into the incident, particularly because a police officer has been identified as being connected to the case.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Newsroom programme on Saturday, September 12, Mr Baidoo said the family wants all the circumstances surrounding Ivan’s death to be established.
He said the family would continue to pursue justice for Ivan Baidoo while preparing for his burial, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Ivan Baidoo burial arrangements
The burial service for the Central University law student will follow a pre-burial service at 6:00 a.m., with the main burial scheduled for 7:00 a.m.
The ceremony will take place at CEM Rehoboth Temple near Wisconsin University at North Legon in Accra.
Mr Baidoo appealed to members of the public to attend the funeral and pay their final respects to his son.
He said Ivan deserved a dignified farewell as the family continues to seek answers over his death.
Police officer interdicted over Ivan Baidoo’s death
Ivan Baidoo died on August 27, 2026, following a crash involving a YANGO-operated motorbike on which he was travelling along the Tema Motorway.
The incident has generated public concern and calls for a thorough investigation after the Ghana Police Service identified, arrested and interdicted General Corporal Robert Koranteng in connection with the case.
According to a petition submitted by the family, the motorbike rider told investigators that a police patrol officer allegedly chased the motorcycle and hit it from behind, causing the rider and passenger to fall.
The circumstances surrounding the reported collision remain the subject of an ongoing police investigation.
Family demands justice for Central University student
Evans Baidoo said the family received news of the police officer’s interdiction with mixed emotions, stressing that the decision alone was not enough.
He wants the Ghana Police Service to conduct a transparent investigation and publicly communicate its findings to the family and the Ghanaian public.
The family is also calling for the officer to be prosecuted if investigations establish criminal responsibility or culpability.
Mr Baidoo further said he did not believe his son’s death was simply an ordinary road accident and maintained that the family would continue seeking justice.

According to the Police Service, appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigations.

As preparations for Ivan Baidoo’s burial proceed, the family says its pursuit of justice and accountability will not end with the funeral.
The case has continued to attract public attention, with calls for a credible investigation to establish exactly what happened on the Tema Motorway and determine responsibility for the death of the young law student.
