Parliament’s Committee on Local Government and Rural Development has raised concerns over the growing number of missing District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines across various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana.
The Committee has attributed the situation partly to poor documentation, inadequate asset management and the failure of some assemblies to insure the government-funded equipment.
The concerns have renewed attention on the management, protection and accountability of public assets under the DRIP initiative, which was introduced to improve road infrastructure and support maintenance of roads across the country.
The Committee’s concerns highlight the need for stronger monitoring systems, proper record-keeping and insurance coverage to prevent further losses and safeguard government investments in local road development.
