Kwahu Abetifihene, Adontenhene, and Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III of Kwahu Traditional Area have urged President John Dramani Mahama to finish the region’s sole government hospital project.

He pointed out that President Mahama had begun the project during his previous term, but that it had stalled after the January 7, 2017, change of government.

He claimed that approximately nine years ago, the President gave Kwahuman permission to construct a government hospital in Abetifi, which he dutifully followed through on to a certain point.

But by the time he left office on January 7, 2017, the project had stagnated for the previous nine years.

“This is the only Hospital if you are able to complete will be the Government Hospital that the Government has built for Kwahuman.”

“The rest are all Mission Hospitals,” Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang said during his speech at the Kwahu Business Forum’s Second Edition, which was held at the Mpraeso Social Center in the Eastern Region’s Kwahu South District.

The Roman Catholic Church founded the Nkawkaw Hospital, he claimed, while the Seventh Day Adventist Church constructed the Atibie Hospital.

Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang addressed the Forum, stating that Kwahu people have always been known for being mechans.

He pointed out that it was not surprising that the President, in his vision, had called for the Kwahu Business Forum to assist in addressing the issues facing local entrepreneurs.

He restated that the majority of companies founded by Kwahu businesspeople started out small but eventually expanded into massive conglomerates.

Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang pointed out that Kwahu was a suitable location for the Business Forum.

In order to attract more businesspeople and women from the Kwahu Area, he urged his people to seize the opportunity presented by the Forum.

Speaking about agriculture, the Chief praised the President for consolidating the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry to include Agribusiness.

He said that the Kwahu Area had one-third of the Eastern Region’s agricultural land.

The Minister of Food and Agriculture was urged by the Abetifihene to expand the government’s agricultural policies to the Kwahu Traditional Area, particularly for farmers. The Abetifihene pointed out that the Kwahu Traditional Area has a sizable amount of fertile land on the Afram Plains.

About two years ago, he remembered, the former government, acting through the then-Minister of Food and Agriculture, forced them to prepare vast territories in Kwahu East and the Afram Plains, which had sizable dams, with the intention of assisting farmers.

He pleaded with the president to keep up the Kwahu projects for the people.

He said that this would significantly boost the region’s agricultural output.

He claimed that when he recently went to one of the Kwahu East project sites for which he had contributed some land, he saw that the dam projects were still unfinished and that the farmlands were starting to grow weeds once more.

He claimed that after the project was finished, it will significantly increase the number of job opportunities available to residents of the Kwahu Area.

Onions, carrots, cucumbers, and other vegetables were among the many vegetable growers in Kwahu South, according to Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang.

He pleaded with the President to ensure the project was finished.
