The government’s flagship program, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares), was introduced in response to the growing need for specialised nurses to provide high-quality healthcare delivery locally, especially in managing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, kidney failure, and others.
Additionally, the number of specialised health workers migrating abroad has increased.
The Ministry of Health has expanded and launched new Post-Basic Specialised Nursing Programs in the following areas to improve domestic healthcare services in support of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) and the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme:
1. Critical Care Nursing
2. Emergency Nursing
3. Cardiology Nursing
4. Nephrology Nursing
5. Endocrinology Nursing
6. Oncology Nursing

Professional Certification:
Graduates will be qualified for licensure with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC) and Associate Membership with the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM).
Academic certification:
The University of Cape Coast will award graduates with a BSc. (UCC)
