The principal of the Nurses and Midwifery Training College at Nalerugu has been ordered to be suspended immediately by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

The directive was issued while the Minister was on a working visit to the Upper East, North-East, and Northern Regions, where he visited training centers and medical facilities to evaluate service delivery and operations.

After being informed about an illegal admission to the Nurses and Midwifery Training College in Nalerugu, the Minister paid a visit to the institution. He ordered the immediate suspension of the Head of the College while more investigations were conducted in response to preliminary findings.

The Minister emphasised that following established admission procedures is not negotiable and issued a warning that any head of institution discovered to be involved in unapproved activities would be subject to severe penalties.

He restated the Ministry’s dedication to openness, responsibility, and upholding high standards in all of the nation’s health training facilities.
