The Ministry of Health has reached a satisfactory agreement to pay nurses and midwives who were assigned during the 2024–2025 service year for salary arrears.
The Ministry of Finance has approved the settlement of the outstanding arrears in four installments from April to July after lengthy discussions.
The approved payment schedule is:
- April – 2 months
- May – 3 months
- June – 3 months
- July – 3 months
The government’s dedication to meeting all outstanding debts in a reasonable and timely way while maintaining fiscal stability is reflected in the structured payment plan.
Despite the payment delays, the Ministry of Health praised the impacted nurses and midwives for their perseverance, commitment, and steadfast devotion to the country.
It recognised the vital role they still play in providing high-quality healthcare services throughout the nation.
The Ministry also sincerely thanked the Ministry of Finance for the importance and urgency of finding a solution.
The government emphasised that health workers’ contributions are still essential to the robustness and durability of Ghana’s healthcare system and reaffirmed its commitment to their welfare, motivation, and better working circumstances.
