According to Kofi Tontoh, a member of the government’s communication team, the idea of natural justice would be fully applied when Charles Adu Boahen, the President’s fired Minister of State for the Finance Ministry, has his day in court to address corruption allegations brought against him.

According to Mr. Tontoh, the OSP’s investigations will determine the next course of action to be taken against him.

After firing Mr. Adu Boahen, President Akufo-Addo declared that he had referred him to the OSP for an investigation.

“Mr. Charles Adu Boahen’s appointment as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance has been revoked with immediate effect by President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The President spoke with Mr. Adu Boahen after becoming aware of the accusations made against the Minister in the exposé “Galamsey Economy,” at which time he decided to rescind his appointment and refer the case to the Special Prosecutor for additional research.

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin, said in a statement on Monday, November 14, “The President congratulated Mr. Adu Boahen for his strong contributions to his government since his appointment in 2017 and wished him well in his future endeavors.”

On Tuesday, November 15, Mr. Tontoh discussed this on the Big Issue with Berla Mundi on TV3.

“The President has made a firm choice here.”

In order to demonstrate that the President does not support corruption, he continued, “Let Adu Boahen have his day. Once all the facts come out, if any additional action is needed, it will be taken.”
