Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader in Parliament, has promised Ghanaians that once the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government takes office on January 7, it will move quickly to meet spending requirements for the first quarter of 2025.

After the Finance Minister failed to present the 2025 mini-budget, leaving funding arrangements unclear for the first part of the year, he gave his promise.

Speaking to the media in Parliament following the House’s adjournment until January 2, Dr. Forson blasted the departing administration for its lack of readiness, calling the situation a failure of governance.

Without a mini-budget, he pointed out, basic services and responsibilities might be disrupted, putting the onus on regular people.

Dr. Ato Forson also issued a warning, saying that Ghanaians will hold the departing Akufo-Addo administration responsible for any unmet promises or disturbances brought on by poor financial planning.

He emphasized that as soon as the NDC administration takes office, it will move quickly to make sure the economy functions properly and all required spending is covered.

The Minority Leader underlined his dedication to protecting Ghanaians’ interests and emphasized that proactive steps would be taken to avoid such suffering.

In order to prevent needless economic hardships for the nation during the transition phase, he also urged the departing administration to accept accountability for its deeds.

“However, the NDC Minority Caucus would like to assure the good people of Ghana and all stakeholders that the NDC government that will take over on the 7th of January 2025, will act with dispatch to cater for expenditure for the first quarter of 2025.”

“There is no cause for alarm! Even though there will be no Minister of Finance on 7th January 2025, the Vice President can present to this House the expenditure in advance of Appropriation anytime after swearing-in on the 7 and Parliament will be properly constituted to expedite approval of the same.” he said.
