The overnight rains caused morning floods in sections of Accra, disturbing Monday morning, particularly in the western parts of the city.
The N1 highway is causing disruptions for commuters travelling from the Kasoa sector to Accra via the Weija, barrier, and Mallam.
There have been reports of floodwaters in low-lying neighbourhoods and along important arterial roads. Some drivers were forced to abandon waterlogged routes, and vehicles were moving slowly through inundated sections.
Parts of the N1 Highway, Apenkwa towards Tesano, the Accra–Kasoa section, Weija, Mallam, Achimota, Spintex, Atomic in Madina, Kaneshie, Darkuman Junction, parts of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, and other nearby communities are among the affected regions, according to locals and road users.
As water levels rose, residents of several homes and businesses in flood-prone areas were forced to relocate their possessions to safer areas.
More to come….
