Angel Asiamah, husband of former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa, is overjoyed after the Amasaman High Court shortened his wife’s prison term.

Following the decision, Mr. Asiamah spoke to journalists on the court forecourt, characterising it as a big relief.

“I am the happiest man on the earth,” he said in Twi.

Nana Agradaa’s prison sentence was reduced to 12 calendar months by the Amasaman High Court, which deemed the original 15-year sentence with hard labour to be harsh and disproportionate.

In its decision, the court maintained her conviction but used its discretion to modify the sentence, lowering it from the trial court’s 15-year sentence.

Nana Agradaa will serve a total of 12 months in prison as a result of the revised sentence, which goes into effect on July 3, 2025, the day of her conviction.

According to the court, a downward adjustment was justified because the severity of the initial sentence was disproportionate to the circumstances, even if the offence called for punishment.

After switching from the traditional clergy to evangelism, Nana Agradaa has remained a contentious public figure.

Earlier this year, she was found guilty in a case that sparked intense public discussion and legal scrutiny.

Her conviction is upheld by the High Court’s decision, although the length of her incarceration has been greatly shortened.
