A family in Assin Fosu in the Fosu Municipality of Ghana’s Central Region is urgently seeking help to save the life of 30-year-old Bismark Amoh, who is reportedly being held captive by suspected kidnappers.
Amoh was allegedly abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026, and had spent more than 48 hours in captivity at the time of the report. His alleged captors have reportedly threatened to kill him unless his relatives pay a ransom.
According to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the suspected kidnappers initially demanded GH¢45,000 and gave the family a 24-hour deadline to raise the money.
The situation became more alarming after the family received disturbing audio and video recordings via WhatsApp from the alleged kidnappers.
In the recordings, Amoh reportedly pleaded for his life and appealed to his relatives to raise the ransom as quickly as possible.
The footage reportedly showed the victim restrained with ropes around his hands, legs and neck. He was allegedly stripped naked and forced to remain on a wet floor while his captors physically assaulted him.
The victim could reportedly be heard crying for help as the perpetrators slapped and struck him with ropes.
The alleged abuse has intensified concerns over his safety, turning the kidnapping case into an urgent fight to secure his release before further harm is done to him.
Suspected Kidnappers Allegedly Used Victim’s Phone
Information gathered by the GNA indicates that the suspected kidnappers were allegedly using Bismark Amoh’s own mobile phone to communicate with his family through WhatsApp.
The move is believed to have been intended to make it more difficult for investigators to identify the suspects and trace their location through digital evidence.
Desperate to secure their relative’s release, the family reportedly sought financial assistance from friends, relatives and other well-wishers.
They were able to raise GH¢19,500, which was subsequently transferred to the alleged kidnappers.
However, the payment did not immediately lead to Amoh’s release. Instead, one of the suspected kidnappers reportedly demanded an additional GH¢30,500, bringing the total ransom demand to GH¢50,000.
A woman’s voice could also reportedly be heard in the background of one of the recordings, alleging that Amoh had defrauded individuals connected to the incident.
The claim has reportedly been cited by the perpetrators as the reason for his alleged arrest, subsequent maltreatment and the demand for money.
The Assin Fosu kidnapping case has raised serious concerns about the safety of the victim as his family continues efforts to secure his release.
Authorities are expected to investigate the alleged kidnapping, ransom demand and physical abuse, while efforts continue to establish the whereabouts of the victim and identify those responsible.
