Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, has rejected corruption allegations against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s flagbearer.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh declared that the NPP flagbearer is and will remain free from corruption.
His defence came during a recent engagement with investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, who was presenting his new book, ‘The President We Never Had.’
Addressing the claims, Dr. Opoku Prempeh praised Dr. Bawumia’s integrity and commitment to the country.
“The flagbearer I serve is not corrupt, he has never been corrupt, and he never will be,” Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated with conviction.
The book by Manasseh Azure examines a number of issues, including claims of corruption, pertaining to President Akufo-Addo’s administration. A chapter on Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s selection as the NPP’s running mate and the related lobbying activities is also included.
“This book sheds light on some of the key events that have occurred in this government, from the early days of the administration to the present,” Mr. Azure said during the book presentation.
Visibly impressed with the presentation, Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed a desire to read and comment on the book.
He declared, “I love to read, so I’ll read the entire book and let you know what I think.”
He also disclosed that he is writing his own books, which would include a description of his experiences as the Minister of Energy and Education.
