Black Sherif has once again won Artiste of the Year at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, following a year of dominating charts, streaming services, and discussions in Ghanaian music.

On Saturday night in the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, the Konongo-born rapper and singer, Mohammed Ismail Sherif, defeated fierce opposition from Medikal, Wendy Shay, Diana Hamilton, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie to win the coveted top prize.

Black Sherif won Artiste of the Year for the first time in 2023 at the 24th edition of the awards program; this is his second victory.

Following what has been called one of the most dominant years by a Ghanaian artist on international streaming platforms in recent times, the most recent success was not surprising to many industry insiders.

His incredible career was propelled by his 2025 album Iron Boy, which achieved enormous popularity both domestically and abroad.

Iron Boy debuted at number six on the UK Top Debut Albums chart, while Black Sherif presently has roughly 2.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify. With nine of the top ten tracks on the site, he also became Ghana’s most streamed artist for the third year in a row.

With Sacrifice emerging as the year’s top single and Iron Boy holding the top 12 spot for 21 weeks, the success story continued on Apple Music.

Additionally, Black Sherif has more than 1.11 billion plays on Audiomack, with 3.01 million listeners and 5.83 million followers, and has surpassed 100 million streams on Boomplay.

Black Sherif won three significant honours that evening, including Songwriter of the Year, Best Afro Pop Song of the Year, and Best Hiphop Song of the Year, in addition to Artiste of the Year.
