Ghanaian radio presenter and musician Blakk Rasta has criticised the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) boss over their response to comments made by dancehall artiste Shatta Wale during ShattaFest 2026.
The controversy follows Shatta Wale’s remarks at the Accra Sports Stadium, where he told his fans that he had several friends involved in internet fraud but would not report them to the authorities.
During his performance, the musician also complained about what he described as unequal treatment in the fight against crime, arguing that while some public officials were accused of stealing state funds, young people were being arrested for fraud-related offences.
Blakk Rasta Questions Police Over Shatta Wale’s Remarks
Reacting to the comments, Blakk Rasta questioned why the police had not taken action against Shatta Wale, particularly following the arrest of TikToker Ghana Jollof over alleged fraud-related content.
He argued that if Ghana Jollof could face police action over content associated with fraud, the authorities should also consider Shatta Wale’s public statements about knowing people involved in internet fraud and choosing not to report them.

Blakk Rasta expressed surprise that neither the IGP nor the CID boss had publicly acted on the musician’s remarks. He questioned the consistency of law enforcement and challenged the authorities to explain the apparent difference in their responses to the two cases.
The outspoken presenter also criticised the CID leadership, suggesting that the department’s credibility would be questioned if it failed to address the matter.
ShattaFest 2026 Comments Spark Public Debate
Shatta Wale’s comments have triggered discussions about internet fraud, police accountability, celebrity influence and the responsibilities of public figures when addressing criminal activities.
However, Shatta Wale’s reported statements about knowing people involved in fraud do not, on their own, establish that he participated in any criminal activity or committed an offence. Whether his remarks warrant a police investigation is a matter for the relevant authorities to determine under applicable law.
The controversy has renewed public interest in how Ghana’s law enforcement agencies handle statements by celebrities and allegations involving suspected cybercrime.
