Ghanaian broadcaster and musician Blakk Rasta has claimed that dancehall star Stonebwoy spends more than $250,000 to organise each edition of the Bhimfest festival, allegedly without significant financial support.
Blakk Rasta made the comments while discussing Stonebwoy’s recent Bhimfest concert at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, suggesting that the Ghanaian musician personally carries a large portion of the financial burden associated with the event.
According to him, the cost of organising Bhimfest could exceed GH¢2.5 million, with ticket revenue allegedly falling short of the total expenses involved in staging the festival.
Stonebwoy Allegedly Spends Over $250,000 on Bhimfest
Blakk Rasta questioned the number of tickets Stonebwoy is able to sell compared with the amount reportedly invested in each edition of the festival.
He argued that the Bhimfest brand requires substantial financial backing, particularly because Stonebwoy is said to spend heavily on production, logistics and international entertainment.
The broadcaster said the expenditure demonstrates Stonebwoy’s strong commitment to promoting Ghanaian music and building the Bhimfest brand on the international entertainment scene.
International Artists Add to Bhimfest Costs
Blakk Rasta also claimed that Stonebwoy spends significant amounts of money to bring international artistes to his events.
He said the costs include artist appearance fees, international travel, accommodation, transportation, feeding and other welfare arrangements.
According to Blakk Rasta, Stonebwoy has paid substantial sums to Jamaican musicians invited to perform at his events.
He specifically referenced Jamaican dancehall artiste Fantan Mojah, claiming that the amount Stonebwoy paid for his appearance was significantly higher than what he personally spends on artistes for the Kuchoko Roots Festival.
Blakk Rasta said he was surprised when he learned how much Stonebwoy had reportedly paid Fantan Mojah, adding that he could not afford to pay even half of that amount for his own festival.
Bhimfest Continues to Boost Ghanaian Music
Bhimfest has become one of Stonebwoy’s major music events, attracting Ghanaian and international music fans while showcasing Ghanaian dancehall, reggae, Afrobeats and African music to audiences outside the country.
The latest comments have renewed discussions about the financial challenges involved in organising major music festivals and concerts, particularly events featuring international performers.
While Blakk Rasta’s claims highlight the alleged high cost of staging Bhimfest, the figures have not been independently verified.
