Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, has reportedly resigned from his position as host of Onua Maakye on Onua TV to pursue a career in politics.

The broadcaster is said to be preparing to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in Gomoa West, in Ghana’s Central Region.

According to media personality Sirr Joe of Agooha FM, who announced the development in a Facebook post on August 7, Captain Smart has stepped down from his broadcasting role as he seeks the NDC parliamentary ticket for the Gomoa West Constituency.

His resignation was reportedly announced live on air, with footage of the moment circulating widely on social media and attracting significant attention from Ghanaians.

Captain Smart’s Broadcasting Career

Captain Smart has built a strong reputation as one of Ghana’s most influential radio and television personalities. He gained national recognition during his time at Adom 106.3 FM, where he hosted the popular morning programme Dwaso Nsem after working at Fox 97.9 FM.
