Cocoa Capital PLC has raised GH¢3.39 billion through its maiden commercial paper issuance to support the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) in financing cocoa purchases from farmers across the country.

The company’s first financial statements reveal that Cocoa Capital was incorporated in August 2026 with an initial stated capital of GH¢5 million. As of September 30, 2026, the newly established company had recorded a loss of GH¢100,000 and reported no cash balance.

However, within weeks of its establishment, Cocoa Capital successfully mobilised GH¢3.39 billion through its inaugural commercial paper issuance, highlighting its role in providing alternative financing for Ghana’s cocoa industry.

Cocoa Capital PLC was established as a special-purpose financing vehicle to raise funds for COCOBOD’s cocoa purchasing operations rather than operate as an independent cocoa-trading business.

The new financing arrangement is intended to support COCOBOD’s working capital requirements, improve access to funding and provide resources for purchasing cocoa beans from farmers.

The development marks an important step in Ghana’s efforts to diversify cocoa sector financing and strengthen funding arrangements for the country’s cocoa industry.
