Just hours after being appointed Director-General of Research & Planning at the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah was abruptly transferred to the Interior Ministry as a Technical Adviser to the Minister of the Interior.

The Presidency announced the reassignment in a letter outlining her new role and responsibilities.

“In line with this directive, you are hereby reassigned from your current position to the Ministry of the Interior, where you will serve as the Technical Advisor to the Honorable Minister. This reassignment takes immediate effect, and you are expected to liaise with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth transition into your new role.”

“His Excellency the President recognizes and deeply appreciates your unwavering dedication, professionalism, and invaluable contributions to the nation. It is his firm belief that your expertise and commitment will continue to serve the country effectively in your new capacity,” a statement signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, stated.

Under the direction of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who recently announced a number of reassignments intended to enhance leadership and operational efficiency in the Police Management Board (POMAB), the most recent reorganization is a part of a larger restructuring within the Ghana Police Service.

Prior to this redeployment, COP Addo-Danquah was the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) before recently rejoining the Police Service.

She spearheaded initiatives to fight corruption and financial crimes while she was employed at EOCO.

She has served as the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the past, where she was instrumental in a number of well-known investigations.

COP Addo-Danquah will be expected to communicate with important stakeholders in her new position at the Interior Ministry in order to promote the development of security plans and policies that would improve Ghanaian law enforcement.
