Due to various irregularities in the serial numbers on the ballots, the Electoral Commission (EC) has recalled the presidential and parliamentary ballots for the Ahafo and Volta regions.

At an IPAC meeting in Accra, Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of the Commission in charge of operations, told political party representatives that Bulk Press had been given a new contract to start printing for the Ahafo region, while Act Commercial had been given the task of printing for the Volta region.

In addition, Mr. Tettey stated that the Commission is increasing its efforts to provide stakeholders and political parties with the updated printing schedule for these areas.

He said the security service and party agents would oversee the destruction of the recalled documents.

Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, stated that the party fully supports the EC’s decision and that it is in order.

Evans Nimako, the NPP’s National Director of Research and Elections, stated that although the party welcomes the decision, it will make sure the recalled papers are handled appropriately to allay any concerns.
