The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has launched an investigation into an alleged criminal conspiracy that reportedly resulted in a financial loss of approximately GH¢27 million to SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
As part of the ongoing financial crime investigation, the immediate past Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Mrs Amma Frimpomaa Duwah, has honoured an invitation from EOCO and is cooperating with investigators.
The Member of Parliament for Suame, Mr John Darko, has also appeared before EOCO officials to assist with investigations into the alleged financial irregularities. He was subsequently granted enquiry bail after cooperating with the investigative team.
According to an official press statement issued on October 13, 2026, Mr Darko reported to EOCO’s head office at 12 noon on the same day in response to the office’s invitation. The Suame MP provided information intended to assist investigators in establishing the facts surrounding the alleged GH¢27 million financial loss.
EOCO explained that the MP remained cooperative and responsive throughout the process, a factor considered in the decision to grant him enquiry bail.
“Having regard to the circumstances of the case, the applicable law and the Honourable Member’s level of cooperation with investigators, the Office granted him enquiry bail,” the statement said.
EOCO Investigation Into SIC Savings and Loans Continues
The anti-organised crime agency has stressed that investigations into the alleged criminal conspiracy are still ongoing and progressing in line with its investigative approach.
EOCO also confirmed that Mrs Amma Frimpomaa Duwah, the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, had honoured the office’s invitation and was cooperating with investigators as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported financial loss.
The office cautioned the public against drawing premature conclusions about the case, emphasising that no final determination has been made regarding the culpability or otherwise of any individual connected to the investigation.
EOCO reiterated that the matter remains an active investigation and that its findings will depend on the evidence gathered and the applicable law.
The development has drawn attention to financial crime investigations in Ghana, corporate accountability and the role of law enforcement agencies in addressing alleged financial misconduct within financial institutions.
EOCO has urged the public to recognise that the investigation is still underway and that no individual connected to the case has been conclusively determined to be responsible for the alleged offence.
