Based on the Upper East Regional Security Council’s recommendation and an Executive Instrument, the Interior Minister has reviewed the 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. curfew that was implemented for Bawku Municipality and the surrounding area in the Upper East Region on Friday, April 25, 2025.
The government urges the local population, including the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and youth, to employ non-violent methods to focus their energies toward maintaining peace and to display restraint when faced with obstacles.
In the meanwhile, it is strictly forbidden for anybody in the Bawku Municipality and the surrounding areas to possess any kind of weaponry, including firearms and ammunition. Anybody caught in possession of these items would face arrest and legal action.
