This was revealed by the Finance Minister during his floor address to Parliament regarding the payments to statutory funds.

He further warned that before any further releases can take place, the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund must make sure that 80% of this sum is sent straight to the assemblies and that expenditure reports are sent to the Ministry of Finance.

He went on to say that Honorable Members are urged to keep an eye on how these funds are being used by their respective Assemblies in accordance with the Cabinet-approved parameters.

Majority Leader Hon. Mahama Ayariga, on his part, stated that President Mahama is “pro-women” and acknowledged the president’s emphasis on women in the nation.

He went on to say that this is because women will be the primary recipients of the funds that the MMDAs will spend.

The Finance Minister was asked by Minority Leader Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin why road contractors haven’t received payment in over five months.

He stated that since the distribution of this money was long overdue, the minister should not be commended.

Hon. Ato Forson stated in his concluding remarks that he would give careful consideration to the House’s concerns.
