Minority members who plan to protest Bank of Ghana Governor Ernest Addison on September 5, 2023, have been instructed by the police administration to alter their itineraries.
On August 23, 2023, in Accra, the protest organizers met with the law enforcement organization and provided the following proposed protest route: starting at the front of Parliament House, passing the Osu Cemetery traffic light, the Ministry of Finance, the High Court Complex, Kinbu-Makola-Rawlings Park-Opera Square, and the Bank of Ghana
The Police stated that they are prepared to give the protesters security, but that after conducting a security assessment, their chosen routes may jeopardize public order and safety, among other things. As a result, the Police has asked the organizers to change the picket’s routes and destinations in the interest of maintaining public order, public safety, and the provision of essential services.

For them to be able to give the organizers the required security during the protest, the Police said they are waiting to hear from them.
The goal of this demonstration is to show outrage about the BoG’s illegal printing of money (around GHS80 billion) for the NPP government between 2021 and 2022, which resulted in a hyperinflation rate of 54.1% in December 2022.
