Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness for strategic partnerships and investment, highlighting the country’s strong economic recovery and commitment to industrial transformation, at the inaugural London-Africa Business Summit on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at City Hall in London.
The Hon. Minister spoke on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, stating that “Africa is ready and Ghana is open for strategic partnerships and business,” highlighting the continent’s continued appeal as an investment destination despite uncertainties in the global economy.
The Trade Minister pointed out that Africa’s economic prospects are still improving, with GDP growth of 4.3 percent predicted for the region in 2026.

Africa’s youthful population, burgeoning digital economy, and expanding consumer market were cited by her as major future growth factors.
The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which links 55 nations and a market of 1.4 billion people with a combined GDP of $3.4 trillion, was cited by her as having a revolutionary influence.
The Hon. Minister went on to highlight Ghana’s economic recovery under President Mahama’s direction, pointing out that the country’s economy grew by 6% in 2025, inflation sharply decreased, and important fiscal metrics improved.
The growing trade and investment connections between Ghana and the UK were emphasised by Hon. Ofosu-Adjare. In 2025, British investments in Ghana totalled £1.8 billion over 671 projects, while bilateral trade between the two nations reached £1.6 billion.
Citing record growth in non-traditional exports and continuous attempts to boost domestic processing in important industries like cocoa and gold, she emphasised Ghana’s emphasis on value addition and industrialisation.
The UK-Ghana Growth Partnership 2026–2028, which includes a £101 million investment in a ship repair and dry-docking facility at Takoradi Port, was highlighted by the Hon. Minister.

According to her, the deal is a significant step toward enabling additional infrastructure investments and bolstering Ghana and the UK’s economic partnership.
Along with praising African diaspora groups for their contributions to fields like fintech, education, and the creative industries, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare reassured them that Ghana is dedicated to using their knowledge, creativity, and abilities to advance both national and continental development.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare concluded by highlighting the importance of partnerships based on mutual accountability, shared value, and co-investment for Africa’s future growth.
She complimented the Mayor of London for holding the summit and urged global investors to exploit the opportunities arising in Ghana and across the African continent, adding that “Ghana is ready.” Africa is ready. The time to act is now.”.
