Global energy markets are still impacted by recent geopolitical tensions and wars in various regions of the world, according to Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

He did, however, reassure industry participants that Ghana is still confident in its supply security measures and pricing policy framework.

He stated, “Government interventions over the past two windows (GHS2.00 / litre on Diesel and GHP36 / litre on petrol) and the next two windows (GHS1.07 / litre on Diesel) were well thought through with the risks to your businesses very well considered,” during the NPA’s exclusive breakfast meeting today in Accra for the chief executives of the nation’s downstream petroleum sector.

The purpose of the gathering was to increase stakeholder involvement, enhance the regulatory framework, and facilitate networking in order to achieve strategic industrial growth.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Richard Gyan-Mensah, the sector’s deputy minister, and Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinappor, the minister of energy and green transition.

Members of the Authority’s Executive Committee and Dr. Sheila Addo, a Deputy CE, were also present.

Hon. Dr. Jinapor, for his part, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to guaranteeing a steady supply of petroleum products in order to expand and maintain the economy.

The meeting decided on a few steps that should be taken in order to develop and maintain the downstream petroleum industry.
