Adjoa Bayor is a retired Ghanaian footballer and former captain of the Ghana women’s national team. She was born on May 17, 1979, in Accra, Ghana.

Bayor started playing football at the age of 10, and she joined a local football club, named Okyeman United, in 1992. She played for the club for five years before joining Ghatel Ladies, where she spent most of her career. Bayor played as a forward and was known for her excellent dribbling skills and goal-scoring abilities.

In 2002, Bayor was selected to represent Ghana in the Women’s World Cup held in the United States. She was the youngest player on the team at the time. Bayor played a key role in Ghana’s qualification for the 2003 All Africa Games and the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup. In the 2003 All Africa Games, she helped Ghana win the gold medal, and in the 2003 World Cup, she scored Ghana’s first-ever goal in the tournament.

Bayor continued to represent Ghana in international competitions, including the 2007 and 2008 African Women’s Championship, where Ghana finished as runners-up. She also represented Ghana in the 2010 African Women’s Championship and the 2011 All Africa Games.

In 2003, Bayor was named the African Women’s Footballer of the Year, and she was also nominated for the award in 2004 and 2005. In 2008, she was appointed as the captain of the Ghana women’s national team.

Bayor retired from international football in 2011, but she continued to play for Ghatel Ladies until 2015. She has since been involved in coaching and mentoring young female footballers in Ghana.

Bayor’s contribution to women’s football in Ghana has been widely recognized, and she has been an inspiration to many young female footballers in the country.
