A special package of assistance has been offered by the government for Ghanaians who are anticipated to return home after being evacuated from South Africa due to persistent xenophobic attacks.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, made the statement and stated that the package is intended to promote the welfare and reintegration of all evacuees upon their arrival in Ghana.

The minister claims that the package consists of a “Welcome Home Financial Package,” transportation support to different locations throughout the nation, and a reintegration stipend to aid in the relocation of returnees.

He went on to say that in order to help evacuees deal with the trauma associated with the attacks and evacuation, they will also receive free psychosocial support services.

The returnees will also be registered in a unique database created to link them to employment possibilities and assistance for prospective start-ups in Ghana.

The involvement comes as worries about xenophobic crimes against foreigners in some parts of South Africa have grown, raising anxieties among African migrants, especially Ghanaians.

According to the government, the actions are part of efforts to guarantee the safe reintegration of impacted residents and to reiterate its dedication to the welfare of Ghanaians living overseas.

The minister declared, “We value and cherish all our citizens.”

The departure coincides with heightened diplomatic efforts in recent weeks to ensure the safety of Ghanaians residing in South Africa.
