The European Union has urged Ghana to preserve its peace and stability, highlighting the fact that doing so will encourage greater cooperation for the nation’s development.
During a courtesy call on Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister of the Interior, the newly appointed European Union Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Rune Skinnebach, made the appeal.
According to the Ambassador, the European Union will keep strengthening its collaboration with Ghana in order to help Ghana’s efforts to maintain and enhance its peace and security, since these factors are essential for growth.
Ambassador Skinnebach acknowledged Ghana’s potential for growth and development and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing EU support for the country.
“As new Ambassador to Ghana, I will take the European Union to support Ghana to a higher level. Ghana has potential, and the European Union will cultivate that and maintain peace and security in the subregion,” he stated.

Additionally, the ambassador emphasised the European Union’s goal to work with Ghana by fostering an atmosphere that will support stability and attract local investment.
Hon. Muntaka responded by promising the Ambassador a positive working relationship and support for both parties’ interests.
He listed possible areas of cooperation, such as conflict prevention through the National Peace Council and digitisation for the Ghana Prisons Service to handle prisoners.
The Minister thanked the European Union for its ongoing support and praised H.E. Irchad Razaaly, the immediate former ambassador of the European Union to Ghana, for his excellent job.
He wished Ambassador Skinnebach a prosperous term in office and welcomed him to Ghana.
