Investors in companies listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) have received approximately GH¢37 billion in dividend payments over the past 12 months, highlighting the growing opportunities available in Ghana’s capital market.

Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange, Abena Amoah, disclosed that investors in corporate bonds and commercial paper also earned nearly GH¢800 million in coupon payments during the same period.

GSE Creates Growing Investment Opportunities

According to Abena Amoah, the figures demonstrate the increasing role of Ghana’s capital market in creating wealth for investors while providing businesses with access to long-term financing.

She said shareholders of companies listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange have generated significant returns through dividend income, reinforcing the potential of the stock market as an investment avenue.

The substantial dividend payments also highlight the importance of listed companies in Ghana’s financial market and the opportunities available to investors seeking returns from stocks, shares, corporate bonds and other investment products.

Ghana Capital Market Supports Businesses and Investors

The GSE Managing Director explained that the capital market serves a dual purpose by helping businesses raise long-term funds while enabling investors to earn returns on their investments.

With investors receiving billions of cedis in dividends and hundreds of millions of cedis in bond and commercial paper coupon payments, Ghana’s capital market continues to play an important role in investment, wealth creation and business financing.

The latest figures are expected to further strengthen interest in the Ghana Stock Exchange and Ghanaian investment market, particularly among investors looking for opportunities to generate income through dividends and fixed-income securities.
