H. E. President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the value of democracy and peace in Ghana’s progress, stressing that no nation can thrive in an environment of instability and fear.

President Mahama urged Ghanaians to put the country’s interests above of partisan politics during his remarks at the Post 2024 Election Evaluation Dialogue’s concluding ceremony in Koforidua, which had as its topic “Dialogue for a Stronger Democracy and Social Cohesion.”

He emphasized that fostering peace is an ongoing process that calls for dedication and conviction rather than a one-time occurrence. He praised Ghana for being the most peaceful nation in West Africa, citing the prayers of religious organizations and the combined efforts of Ghanaians as the reasons for this accomplishment.

President Mahama emphasized that political disagreements should not be a pretext for violence and denounced the violence that took place during the 2024 elections.

In order to foster a culture of harmony, empathy, and respect for one another, he advised people to reject political animosity, religious fanaticism, and tribalism.

The President asked the National Peace Council to submit its findings to the appropriate authorities for the required measures, and he praised the Council for arranging the discussion.

No one should be above the law, he said, underscoring the significance of the rule of law and institutional integrity.

Ghana’s status as a West African peace light was reaffirmed in President Mahama’s speech.
