Following several delays and grace periods given to dealers to allow them to normalize their operations, the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has begun enforcing the requirement that all licensed gold buyers utilize GoldBod receipts nationwide.

The regulator said in a statement on Monday, August 18, 2025, that all transactions involving licensed aggregators, self-financed aggregators, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 purchasers must henceforth include receipts. The goal of the measure is to make Ghana’s gold trade more transparent and more tightly regulated.

GoldBod has sent out field inspectors and a task force across the country to make sure compliance is being maintained. Licensed purchasers must cooperate completely with enforcement teams and show their receipt booklets for inspection.

Small-scale miners and dealers were also instructed by the Board to insist on legal receipts for each purchase transaction, emphasizing that it is a major offense for licensed buyers to neglect to provide receipts. License suspension or complete revocation are examples of sanctions.

Additionally, GoldBod advised customers to call its dedicated hotlines for assistance in getting receipt booklets from its Licensing and Regulatory Unit.
