The Ministry of Transport will continue to have operational oversight, according to proposals unveiled by Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, to support technology integration in the transportation industry through strategic partnerships.
“We will ensure that any relevant technological conversation is well aligned, but the Transport Ministry will lead on operational matters,” he said.
He made this statement during a meeting in his office with representatives from Yango, the Ministry of Transport, and the DVLA.

Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, the Transport Minister, praised the recommendations and urged Yango to formally submit them for assessment.
He affirmed that Ghana already has an electric car policy with a plan for putting it into effect and stated that the government is interested in collaborations that enhance transportation services and infrastructure.
The two ministers concurred that the meeting was merely an introductory one and that further discussions would concentrate on a thorough examination of Yango’s suggestions in order to incorporate workable solutions into Ghana’s transportation infrastructure.
Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, Minister of Transportation; Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Deputy Minister of Transportation; Mrs. Mabel Asi Sagoe, Chief Director of the Ministry of Transportation; and Mr. Abraham Zata, Acting Director of Research Business and Innovation, DVLA, were all present at the meeting.
