The Queen Mother of the Terkperbiawe tribe in Ada, Greater Accra Region, lamented the government’s alleged inaction about the traditional council’s alleged assertion that the government had leased the Songor Lagoon to McDan and ElectroChem.

The Ada Traditional Council has claimed that the government gave the Songor Lagoon to McDan, but the Queen Mother of the Terkperbiawe clan, Naana Korleki Korley, expressed concern at the press conference held in Ada today about what she called the government’s “deliberate silence.”

She criticized the government for failing to address the harm and issues that Ada residents who live near the Songor Lagoon basin have faced since the lease was announced.

She stated that it would be an outrage of justice in Ghana in the twenty-first century for anyone to wake up one day and take over another person’s property without following the required acquisition rules, and if this were to be permitted, no communal property would be secure in the nation any longer.

Ebenezer Adjaottor, the Deputy Secretary of the Ada Songor Lagoon Association, disputed the assertions made by the Ada Traditional Council that McDan and ElectroChem enjoy widespread support from the Ada populace because they have created job opportunities and increased local income.

Therefore, they are pleading with the president to put an end to McDan’s and his security forces’ terrorizing of innocent lives.
