Ing. Frank Asirifi Otchere has been appointed as the next CEO of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), with effect from May 8, 2026.
The Board Chairperson, Kuukua Maurice Ankrah, signed a circular containing the announcement.
Ing. Samed Abdul Ibrahim, a former Director of the Project Implementation Unit, has been appointed Acting Deputy Chief Executive for Engineering and Operations, and Ing. Samuel Nkansah has been named Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Finance and Resources.
The state-owned business GRIDCo, which transmits electricity throughout Ghana and contributes to the larger West African power network, is now led by Ing. Otchere.
The organization has urged employees to assist the new leadership group as they take on their responsibilities.
“We urge all staff to extend the necessary cooperation and support to the newly appointed executives in the discharge of their duties,” the statement said.
The change in leadership coincides with GRIDCo’s efforts to fortify the country’s transmission network and enhance operational stability in the wake of recent difficulties in the power industry.
Recent operational challenges for the corporation include a fire inside the control room of the Akosombo switchyard, which caused disruptions to portions of the country’s electrical transmission network.
It is anticipated that the new appointments will strengthen managerial capabilities and boost electricity transmission system efficiency.
