Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, met with Group Vivendi Africa (GVA) executives to talk about the company’s ambitions to commercially offer high-speed fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) internet services in Ghana.
In his welcome remarks, Hon. Samuel Nartey George called the proposed pricing plan “revolutionary” and said it aligned with the government’s goal of increasing access to cheap digital connectivity.
He promised that in order to help break the deadlock over infrastructure access, he will speak with the management of the Ghanaian Energy and Electricity Company (ECG).
“I’m fully committed to initiatives that lower data costs and expand fibre connectivity across Ghana. If this offering delivers what you’ve described , high-speed, unlimited internet at competitive rates, I’ll personally champion its rollout.” he stressed.

GVA was encouraged by the Minister to submit a formal proposal detailing its investment strategy, service plan, and the key bottlenecks that need ministerial assistance.
Additionally, he proposed that GVA and Canal+ work together to combine broadband service with streaming premium content, which might revolutionise Ghana’s pay-TV and internet market.
He also reassured the delegation that the government is prepared to assist sincere investors who are dedicated to developing Ghana’s digital infrastructure and promoting inclusivity.
GVA’s CEO, Mr. Jean-François Dubois, who headed the group that met with the minister today, gave an overview of the company’s mission, stating that it wants to provide Ghanaian families with inexpensive, limitless internet connectivity.
As a subsidiary of the Canal+ Group, Mr. Dubois pointed out that the company presently operates in nine African nations and plans to replicate its mass-market fibre model in Ghana, beginning with Accra and Kumasi.
