The mother of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the former minority leader and Tamale South Constituency Member of Parliament, Hajia Mariama, has been reported dead.
A close friend of the family and well-known Ghanaian physician, Dr. Seidu Fiter, posted the tragic news on Facebook in a touching statement.
Dr. Fiter commented, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” expressing condolences and remembering the soul of the late Hajia Mariama.
The phrase “To Him we belong and unto Him we shall return” captures the profound grief that the Iddrisu family and everyone who knew Hajia Mariama felt.
Hajia Mariama passed away after a protracted illness at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, where she was undergoing treatment, according to Dr. Fiter’s message.
She died in spite of the attempts to save her, leaving her family with a legacy of love and dedication.
In their statement, the family affirmed that Hajia Mariama’s remains would be taken to Tamale for interment. Soon, the precise time and place of the funeral will be announced.
The family conveyed their deep sadness in the tearful announcement.
