The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has raised the price of water and energy beginning of this Monday, July 1, 2024.
Power tariffs for lifeline customers (0–30 kWh) have increased by 3.45%, while non-residential customers and all other residential customers who do not fall into the lifeline category bracket (31 kWh and above) have seen increases of 5.84%.
According to PURC, customers in the industrial sector would see an increase in electricity rates of 4.92%.
The Executive Secretary, Dr. Ishmael Ackah, has issued a statement announcing a 5.16% rise in water tariffs for all customer classes during the review period.
According to PURC, the increase is attributable to the cedi, inflation, fuel prices, and the mix of energy generation.
