Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has been named the Minister of Health-designate by President John Dramani Mahama.

On January 21, 2025, the third round of ministerial nominees was announced, including Mr. Akandoh, the Member of Parliament for the Juaboso Constituency in the Western North Region.

The President promised to release all cabinet nominees within 14 days of his inauguration, and his appointment is pending parliamentary approval.

Since 2013, Mr. Akandoh has represented Juaboso as an MP for four terms. He was re-elected in 2016, 2020, and 2024.

He had extensive knowledge of the difficulties facing the industry as the ranking member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health prior to his nomination.

Profile

Mr. Akandoh was born in Sefwi Antobia, Western North Region, on June 19, 1980. He graduated from Mountcrest University College with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and the University of Cape Coast with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Mathematics.

Additionally, he graduated from the University of Ghana with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Natural Resources Law.

Mr. Akandoh was the Assistant Director in charge of the National Voluntary Program at the National Service Scheme headquarters in Accra prior to going into politics.
